OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The Midlands International Auto Show opens Friday at the CHI Health Center in downtown Omaha.

The event usually showcases all the new cars from auto manufacturers in the winter, but this year, organizers opted for better weather.

“We moved the show to May because we just got so tired of the cold in January and the weather and the cars coming in with a foot of snow on them,” said event director Tam Webb.

There was no snow on the vehicles that were moved into the exhibit hall on Thursday. Car dealers were getting ready for the show, putting all the cars in place. This year, the auto show will feature and automotive career fair.

There’s a need for trained personnel to deal with high-tech vehicles.

“What we’re trying to show people is that automotive tech is an outstanding career choice,” Webb said.

“There are programs available that take less than two years. There’s lots of scholarships and tuition reimbursement available and the jobs pay very well.”

Dealers will show off trucks, classic cars, and vehicles for motorsports.
