Light & Sound Show at Cellular Jail

Cellular Jail, also known as (Black Waters), is a British Jail located in Port Blair, India. The jail was built between 1896 and 1906 by the British colonial authority to house political prisoners during the Indian independence struggle.

The jail was built as a panopticon, with seven wings radiating from a central tower, providing for constant surveillance of the inmates.

Inside the Jail, prisoners were subjected to different kinds of torture and forced to perform hard labor.

The Jail was closed and designated a national monument after India achieved independence in 1947.
